Keeping the U.S. Twice As Warm
According to Twice as Warm, on any given night approximately 750,000 men, women and children are homeless in the U.S. Founder of Twice As Warm, Brian Lieberman, wanted to help those individuals when he began volunteering at local homeless shelters in Washington D.C. What he noticed, though, was that many of the clothing items that people were donating were in bad condition. That's when he decided he wanted to create a sustainable model for donating new and unused clothing to those in need.
Twice As Warm is a clothing company that gives new clothing to children and families in need. For every Twice As Warm item you purchase, an identical clothing item will be given to a person in need on your behalf. The project was born in August of 2010 and began with Brian's small goal of giving away 50 hats, 50 pairs of gloves, and 50 scarves. Six months later they had donated 210 winter clothing items to people in need. Their mission of continuing to provide warmth, hope, and support to children and families in need is still going strong today.
And you can help! Need some new winter clothing? So do a ton of men, women, and children that are currently homeless. Check out their website, grab some warm gear, and know that the items you purchase will also be worn by a person who needs warm clothing even more than you do!
